Egg (oocyte) donation
Egg donation (oocyte donation) is an effective method of infertility treatment when ovaries do not produce their own egg cells (dysfunction, malformation, ovary function preexhaustion, menopause), and also in cases of repeat unsuccessful attempt of artificial insemination (low quality embryo). Egg donation is used when there is a risk of genetic diseases.
Necessary results are achieved with the help of an extracorporal fertilization programme with egg donation. In such cases eggs are taken from another healthy donor woman, fertilized with husband’s or donor’s sperm and then these embryos are transferred into infertile recipient woman’s uterine cavity. A recipient woman shall be investigated by a physician and provide conclusion about absence of contraindication for pregnancy and delivery. In other respects, a couple undergoes necessary stipulated investigation before an IVF programme.
The possibility of pregnancy is determined by a lot of factors and is individual in every case. Intended parents are given information about general appearance characteristics: height, weight, eye and hair colour, nationality, education, presence of family and children, blood group and rhesus-factor.
An egg donor is paid material compensation for cooperation and fine execution of all medical recommendations. Success of infertility couple’s treatment directly depends on abovementioned and donor’s reproductive system condition.
Information about anonymous donor’s identity is confidential, and donors do not get any information about patients for whom embryos are intended.
After donor matching medical and genetic investigations are conducted. During these examinations it becomes clear whether woman (donor) meets all essential requirements to be an egg donor. A donor signs informed consent which states her eggs and embryos made from her eggs are patient’s property. After investigation completion and legal document signing medical cycle can be started.
