The British woman wants to become surrogate of her deceased daughter's child
Ministry of Health of the United Kingdom considered the unprecedented demand fo a 59-year-old English woman. Recently her young daughter died from cancer, who previously deposited her eggs in the Cryobank. Now elderly woman wants to carry and give birth to her own grandchild.
Pensioner made a demand for the Ministry of Health of the United Kingdom to provide her access to stored in liquid nitrogen the eggs of her daughter.
The girl died a few years ago from bowel cancer, before reaching the age of 25. After learning the sad diagnosis before the start of chemotherapy, she turned to Center for Reproductive Medicine with a request to remove and freeze some of her eggs.
The last wish of the deceased was the birth of a child using her eggs stored in the Cryobank, and a 59-year-old mother of the dead girl to become a surrogate mother of her own grandson.
The British woman plans to take the daughter egg's to the United States, where after fertilization they will be implanted in her uterus for later gestation.
This case has generated a lot of legal and ethical conflicts, as in liquid nitrogen are stored not embryos but eggs.
This means that they should first be fertilized by the sperm donor – but what criteria should be guided in choosing of the donor so it didn't violate the ethical standards in case deceased would have made such choice?
Additionally girl has not left any will or even instructions written by her hand.
Categorical refusal to issue pensioner egg of her daughter expressed Department of the Ministry of Health of Great Britain Human Fertility and Embryology Authority.
However, after this woman decided to appeal to the Supreme Court - now her lawyers prepare all the necessary documents.
