Year Of The Dragon May Cause Baby Boom
02.02.2012
Looking to get lucky? The Chinese believe babies born in the Year of the Dragon will bring good fortune.
"The Year of the Dragon is considered the luckiest among the rest," Louie's Chinese Restaurant employee Annie Cheung said. "The dragon is a symbol for power, wealth, and luck. It means they'll have great success. Chinese people like their kids being doctors and lawyers and it's really good luck."
While many Asian countries expect to see a baby boom, American clinics might see a dragon baby boom too.
Agencies for surrogacy solutions have seen a 250 percent increase in business from Chinese or Chinese Americans so far this year and a lot more Asian couples hoping to get lucky.
"We are hoping Year of the Dragon will be lucky in all of our patients," the doctors say. "We started seeing couples who were interested in having children born in the Year of the Dragon probably about three months ago."
"We have seen an increased number of patients who have been talking about Year of the Dragon babies, or “Dragons”. It's certainly on their minds, we can all use inspiration in hope in the struggle against infertility."
If you're racing to have a dragon baby, the Year of the Dragon goes until February 10, 2013. For all you wanna-be parents, you'll have to do the math.
