Martha Stewart’s Daughter, Alexis, Celebrates Birth Of Second Child Born By Surrogate
Alexis has suffered through four devastating miscarriages via surrogacy, but now she’s celebrating the birth of her new son. Congrats Alexis and grandma Martha!
Alexis Stewart, 46, welcomed her son, Truman, through a surrogate on March 7 a day before his sister, Jude, celebrated her first birthday, Daily Mail reports. The daughter of Martha Stewart, Alexis spent five difficult years and more than $30,000 trying for a baby before a surrogate gave birth to her son.
After four miscarriages by surrogates, Alexis felt emotionless about the most recent pregnancy. “I refused to get excited about [the baby],” she says of the previous disappointment.
Alexis spent $27,000 a month for in-vitro-fertilization treatment with an additional $6,000 for the drugs that stimulated egg production to ensure her baby came to term.
During one fatal pregnancy, no heartbeat was found during a second sonogram test and Alexis feared the worst each consecutive time she went back for the other pregnancies.
“So every time I went to get a sonogram with Jude, I would have that ‘I can’t stand up’ feeling,” Alexis says. “I related the sonogram to something horrible.”
So glad Alexis received such a blessing and we hope grandma Martha spoils both her grandchildren rotten.
