Frozen Embryos May Be More Viable Than Fresh Ones

A team of researchers will be carrying out a study at a Sydney fertility clinic, which will experiment whether using frozen embryos during IVF will be better than fresh embryos or not.

At present, IVF treatment includes implantation of fresh embryos after hormones are used to stimulate ovaries to produce eggs.

However, in a few cases, even frozen embryos are used. It has been recovered that those embryos, which are collected and not used immediately are frozen to be used later on.

It has been subjected that these frozen embryos are implanted in case of women, whose first cycle of IVF is not successful and even in case of patients, who already have had a healthy baby by the treatment and trying for another baby.

IVF clinic affirmed that success rates associated with frozen embryos is more than that incurred with fresh embryos.

However, the recent study aims at looking forward to benefits associated with transfer of frozen embryos during a natural menstrual cycle, rather, than after use of hormones.

Medical Director Associate Professor said, “The transfer of a fresh rather than a frozen embryo has been traditional, but the best and quickest way to achieve a healthy baby may be from transferring a single frozen and thawed embryo”.
