Ovary tissue was succesfully frozen in Japan
06.09.2013
For fertility preservation in patient who will undergo a course of chemotherapy, doctors froze part of the fabric of her ovaries. According to experts from the University of Dzyuntendo it is the first successful case of this procedure in Japan.
Aggressive treatment of malignant tumors in women is often accompanied by a loss of reproductive function, since the radio-and chemotherapy has a negative impact on the ability of the ovaries to produce eggs suitable for fertilization.
Part of a woman's ovary tissue (she is not even 30 years old) was seized and subjected to a deep freeze. This will keep the reproductive function in the future.
