Reasons for male infertility
29.10.2013
Researchers from Cambridge University have found that for the development of male infertility is responsible the X- chromosome.
Scientists conducted a precision-sequencing of the X chromosome. It was found that "female" chromosome contains about 95 % of the total single-copy genes that are active in the women's and men's organisms.
The most active of these genes are in the tissues of the testicles, where the production and maturation of sperm takes place. And, according to the researchers, mutations in genes lead to diseases including male infertility.
The results were published in the journal Nature Genetics. Investigations are continuing.
