Express test for determining remaining time before menopause shows wrong results
25.11.2013
Recently marketed Egg Timer Test (for about $70) can calculate the ovarian reserve for women and determine the number of remaining years before menopause. However, as experts note, the test results may give an error of up to 60 %.
This conclusion scientists have made based on an analysis of data on the status of ovarian reserve of 5,000 women in the period 2008-2011.
It is understood that false test results caused panic among women aged over 35. That is why doctors recommend not to delay the first pregnancy and to assess the state of women's health based on the results of medical examinations and not home testing.
