Multiple births decline in U.S. due to IVF changes

The number of twin, triplet and higher multiple births had increased with the rise in in-vitro fertilization treatments, but new guidelines for IVF have lessened the likelihood of giving birth to more than one baby.

Because doctors no longer implant numerous embryos during IVF treatments, the rate of multiple births in the U.S. has decreased, according to findings published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
