The company is going to test the clinical analysis of urine, which should diagnose preeclampsia (hypertension in pregnant) just 26 weeks of pregnancy. As promised by the developers, the test will be ready for launch in the next 18 months.

Meanwhile, a dangerous disorder can develop covertly, threatening the lives of the pregnant woman and her baby. Moderate pre-eclampsia affects up to 10% of first pregnancies. A severe preeclampsia - up to 2%.

A characteristic features of this disease is high blood pressure, protein in the urine, fluid retention. Outcome can be abysmal - stroke, coma. Worldwide from preeclampsia die 80,000 women and 500,000 children. The children also develop cerebral palsy, blindness, epilepsy, deafness and lung disease. New test works on the basis of a biomarker that identifies a particular protein in the podocytes, kidney cells.
