In recent years, cell technologies and regenerative medicine have greatly advanced. According to the expert Aubrey de Grey, the problem of menopause will be solved within the next 20 years. This will help to shift the boundaries that define the period of possibility conceiving and childbirth.

Scientists believe that anti-aging therapy could be used for reproductive organs. For example, in theory it is possible to rejuvenate ovaries by boosting or reinforcing the existing stock of stem cells. Engineering methods allow to create a new ovarian tissue. Similar technology is already used for the creation of an artificial heart. However, not all experts share possibility of such approach. Currently there are no experimental data confirmed that stem cells restore and update ovaries.

Also, experts pointed out that if the theory of rejuvenation ovaries still raises many questions, the idea that an unhealthy lifestyle accelerates arrival of menopause, is shared by all members of the medical community. The study showed that smoking can hasten arrival of menopause for several years. About this warns Dr. Samantha Butts from Perelman School of Medicine.

It was found that a lot of women of European type who smoked with a specific genetic mutation faced with menopause almost 9 years earlier from normal. This mutation was fixed at 7% of women of European type, participated in the study.
