Hormone caused by stress, will help cope with infertility

15.01.2015

Chronic stress activates gonadotropin-overwhelming hormone (GnIH), which reduces fertility in women for a long time. Scientists from the University of California conducted a new study on rats and found that the hormone acts even when the stress is over.

Blocking the activity of this hormone gene in women may help to cope with the negative effects of stress on the reproductive system. Probably, this gene controls the complicated work of the reproductive system under stress. Possibly, to solve the problem of infertility caused by stress, it is enough to block the gene.

Scientists were able to reduce the levels of GnIH in experimental animals, then the function of the reproductive system of rodents was restored. GnIH also there is in the human body. It is known to suppress the production of steroid hormones in ovarian. Experts hope that further research on this topic will help find a cure for infertility in humans.
