Doctors explained how to give birth a healthy baby
Doctors explained what can help to give birth to a healthy baby. Children conceived using IVF, now are less likely to die in infancy due to implanting only a single fertilized egg into the uterus of the mother.
Researchers from the University Hospital of Copenhagen reported that such babies also are less likely to be born prematurely or stillborn compared with infants who were born 20 years ago.
According to the experts, the strategy of implantation of the egg in the womb reduces the risk of multiple pregnancy and complications that occur, as a result. New data show that women receiving a single embryo, are five times more likely to give birth to a healthy baby. IVF involves the surgical removal of an egg from the woman's ovaries and its fertilization with a sperm in the laboratory. The fertilized egg or embryo is then placed back into the woman's uterus to grow and develop. There is an increased probability of conceiving twins or triplets if more than one embryo is placed back into the uterus.
Thanks to major research experts managed to study health of more than 92,000 children born using IVF in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden between 1988 and 2007. Over the 20-year period, scientists have observed a significant reduction in the risk of having premature babies and children with low birth weight. Then team compared 62,379 children and 29,758 twins born after IVF, with 362,215 children and 122,763 twins conceived naturally in the same Nordic countries during the same period.
However, doctors say that the transfer of multiple embryos in one cycle, even if it leads to only one child, could have negative consequences. Policy implantation of only one embryo per cycle during fertilization not only reduces the rate of multiple pregnancies, but also has a significant impact on the health of a child.
