Mutations at the genetic level cause infertility
Genetic mutation causes infertility. And it manifests itself not in violation of the functions of eggs or spermatozoa, but rather in the structure of the genital anomalies. This makes natural conception impossible.
Results of Japanese scientists study - a new step in solving infertility problem, which today faces approximately every tenth pair. Genetic diagnosis of infertility help in time to identify the problem and choose appropriate treatment.
The genes encoding the beta-catenin protein, are involved in many important processes, such as maintenance of homeostasis. Beta-catenin participates in the formation of many organs and maintaining their jobs. As a rule, it is most active at the stages of development and shuts down when is no longer necessary.
Team of researchers managed to create a mouse with a mutation in the gene encoding the beta-catenin. The scientists also found that the rodents could not reproduce naturally, but they managed to do it with the help of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Thus, the problem was related to the structure of bodies and not with functions egg or sperm.
